Better late than never

So… we should be on the way to the airport right now but somehow the farewells were so much fun that we thought we’d extend the celebrations by a week… But lets start at the beginning.
In August last year we first started thinking that we should find a way to invest our savings just in case it comes to another GFC. The two options we looked at were a) take on a massive mortgage or b) see the world. The latter was (is) much more compelling to us, so we slowly started to come up with a list of places that we’d like to see. Rich was/is very busy with his MPhil so I got to do the planning. His main request was to “follow the sun” but I must have misunderstood and now we’ll be following winter instead. Oh well, the sun shines in winter too, doesn’t it?!
Just to make sure that our bodies will be warm enough for the year of winter we’ll quickly drop by Doha, Qatar and Dubai, UAE before we head to Buenos Aires, Argentina. We’ll travel around South/Central/North America for about six months (or as long as the money lasts) and then make our way to Europe to surf around couches of some lovely people and hopefully find some kind of employment to try and fill our empty pockets before heading to… we don’t know yet… So that’s the rough plan.
We’ll be leaving Brisbane in exactly one week and currently I’m enjoying the extended farewells, abusing Lisa and Ian’s incredible hospitality (DANKE!) and running some final errands, whilst Ritchie works pretty much 24/7 to get his thesis done in time.
We’re both very much looking forward to finally be sitting in this plane and to start this journey - but it’ll be very sad to say goodbye to Australia’s most amazing people. So instead of wasting more time in front of my laptop I’ll now get back to making the most of the time that’s left in Brisbane (for now).
We’ll keep you updated…
¡Adiós!
Charly (&Rich)
